Big Idea- Many real world situations can be modeled and predicted using mathematics

E.Q. How can technology help us explore linear patterns in the world?

3.1
A-The point (14, 12) is on the graph O Alana’s. Write a question you could answer by locating this point?

Ans-The Question I would use in this situation would be- How much money will she earn at 14 miles?

B-How can you use the equation for Alana’s plan to check the answer to the question you wrote in part A?
Ans- y=.5x+5
y=.5x14+5
y=7+5
y=12
Thus the amount of money she will get for walking 14 miles will be $12.

C1 - For a sponsor to owe a student $17 under Alana’s pledge plan, how many miles would the student have to walk?

Ans- For a sponsor to owe a student 17$ it will take the student 16.5 miles to run.

C2-Was the graph or the equation more helpful in answering part 1?

Ans- Yes it helped get quicker to the answer. For instance I immediately knew once by looking at the graph that the y axis began at 5
